I’m an artist based in Arkles Bay, Auckland, New Zealand, with a background in art direction, advertising and design.

I have painted all my life, exhibiting and selling my work along the way, but I could not have made these paintings then. I wasn’t this person yet.

I did not arrive here by accident. Years of looking, making, testing, pushing and challenging my own work have brought clarity: a deeper understanding of what moves me, what I find beautiful, what I want to say, and the visual language that feels genuinely mine.

I have a strong vision. I know what I’m looking for, without deciding in advance exactly what it has to look like.

That means being willing to push beyond something that is already working. To obscure it, paint over it, pull it apart, even destroy it rather than protect it, because somewhere beyond the comfortable resolution might be something I haven’t found yet.

This site is a portfolio, offering a snapshot of recent work. Some works are available, others have been sold.

I am drawn to beauty once perfection begins to loosen its grip: flowers past their peak, colour pushed further, forms becoming less certain but no less themselves.

I am interested in the richness of imperfection, and in what becomes possible when beauty is allowed to be stranger, more complex and less obedient to conventional ideas of what beautiful should be.

The frame can be part of that conversation too. Not every painting needs one, but I consider it from the beginning, exploring handmade, designed, printed and repurposed forms and where painting, frame and object meet.

My process lives between intention and discovery, with enough control to begin and enough freedom for something new to arrive.

I work primarily on smooth aluminium composite, layering watery acrylic washes and inks with monoprint, thick almost-impasto acrylic, spray paint and whatever other acrylic materials the work calls for.

The mark is what leads. Each one changes what is possible next.

I am not searching for the right way to make something. There are always other possibilities, other marks, other ways of making them, and something I haven’t discovered yet.
